Program Details

The Chickasaw Theatre Company began performing radio plays in 2011. Performances are done in the style of old-fashion 1930’s/1940’s radio theatre. Actors perform a story, often playing more than one character, while a sound effects technician or Foley artist creates live sound effects to enhance the scene.

This style of performance is great for experienced actors or new actors, as it does not require performers to completely memorize their script or be overly concerned with blocking. Actors are able to focus on the story and audiences are treated with a rare performance that recalls an era long gone.

Performances have included “The Tell-Tale Heart,” “The Canterville Ghost” and “A Christmas Carol” and are normally presented in the black box theatre at the arts and humanities building.
