Harvest Fest

The Chickasaw White House hosted Harvest Fest Saturday, Oct. 17 at the grounds in Emet, OK.  The event offered attendants the chance to step back into the early 1900s with food and activities planned to exemplify the lives of Chickasaw Nation Governor Douglas H. Johnston and his family.

Climate

The Chickasaw Nation has a continental climate with cold winters and hot summers. Normal daily mean temperatures range from 37 degrees in January to 85 degrees in July.

The record low temperature in the state of Oklahoma was -27 degrees on January 18, 1930, and the record high temperature of 120 degrees was set at Tishomingo on July 26, 1943.

Dry, sunny weather generally prevails throughout the Chickasaw Nation. Average rainfall is between 35 and 50 inches. Snowfall averages about 9 inches per year.
