The Chickasaw National Recreation Area is located in Sulphur, and attracts more than 3 million visitors each year. The area was originally known as Sulphur Springs Reservation and was renamed Platt National Park in 1906. In 1976, Platt National Park and surrounding lands were combined to establish what is now known as the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. The landmark is known for its picturesque landscapes, mineral springs and abundant wildlife. Chickasaw National Recreation Area provides opportunities to experience many diverse activities including hiking, swimming, boating, fishing, camping, picnicking and much more.
