A. The Chickasaw Nation has three departments of government. According to Article V, Section 1 of the Chickasaw Constitution, the powers of the government of the Chickasaw Nation are divided into three (3) distinct departments: Legislative, Executive and Judicial.
Q. What is the length of one term for the Governor of the Chickasaw Nation?
A. According to Article X, Section 3 of the Chickasaw Constitution, the Governor and the Lieutenant Governor shall run as a team and shall be elected for a term of four (4) years.

Q. Who elects the Governor?
A. Chickasaw citizens who are registered to vote elect the Governor. According to Section 8-301 of the Chickasaw Code, to become a registered voter, one must have a CDIB on file with the Chickasaw Nation's CDIB office, or possess a CDIB card issued by another agency showing Chickasaw blood or have been issued an official Chickasaw Nation citizenship card as reflected in the Chickasaw Nation citizenship database and must be 18 years of age or older.
