Groundbreaking for the new Chickasaw Nation legislative and judicial buildings
Groundbreaking ceremonies for new Chickasaw Nation legislative and judicial buildings were 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1 at 801 North Mississippi in Ada.
Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby was joined by members of the legislative and judicial departments as well as dozens of tribal citizens and employees for the event.
“These new facilities will make it much more convenient for citizens to access each of our three departments of government,” said Gov. Anoatubby. “While the departments of our government serve different functions we work together to enhance the quality of life of Chickasaw people.”
The 13, 880 square foot Chickasaw Nation legislative facility will include office space for each legislator, conference room and a meeting room for the general sessions.
The Chickasaw Nation Supreme Court and District court will be located in a separate 15,610 square foot building.
Two courtrooms, two conference/jury rooms, as well as offices for the Supreme Court justices, district court judge and court clerk will be located in that building.
Each building will also include a safe room.
