Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby has been selected to serve on the committee which will review and revise the formula used to distribute more than $650 million in annual housing assistance funds among Native American tribes.

Twenty-four tribal leaders from across the United States and two Housing and Urban Development representatives will meet April 29 through May 1 in Denver to evaluate rules developed in 1998 to implement the Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) Program established by the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act (NAHASDA).

"It is an honor to be chosen to serve on this committee which has the very important role of ensuring that these funds are distributed in a fair and equitable manner," said Governor Anoatubby.

Passed in 1996, NAHASDA reorganized the system of federal housing assistance to Native Americans to more fully recognize tribal sovereignty and self-governance.
