Chickasaw Nation Announces Candidates for General Election

Chickasaw Nation Election Secretary Rita Loder announced today the candidates seeking five legislative seats and one judicial seat within the Chickasaw Nation.

The filing period closed Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 4:30 p.m.

Incumbent legislators Nancy Elliott of Ada and Shana Tate Hammond of Ardmore will retain their seats as neither received a challenger.
 
Elliott will retain Pontotoc District Seat 2, while Hammond will retain Pickens District Seat 4.

Incumbent Supreme Court Justice Barbara Ann Smith of Newcastle will also retain her seat on the court as no other candidates filed for Seat 2 on the court.

Pontotoc District Seat 1 incumbent Toby Perkins of Ada will face challenger Matthew Scott Gore, Esq. of Ada.

Pickens District Seat 1 incumbent David Woerz of Ardmore will face Challenger Mike Watson of Lone Grove.

Tishomingo District Seat 1 incumbent legislator D. Scott Colbert of Sulphur will face challenger Scott Wood of Tishomingo.

Registered Chickasaw voters will vote by mail ballots, with ballots being mailed to registered Chickasaw voters July 17, 2012.

Ballots must be returned to the Chickasaw Nation Election Commission no later than 10:30 a.m. on July 31, 2012. No hand delivered ballots will be accepted.

The Chickasaw Nation Election Commission shall conduct and supervise the ballot counting beginning at 11 a.m. July 31, 2012, at the Chickasaw Community Center in Ada. Results of the elections shall be announced the same day.

Seat 1 Mike Watson, Lone Grove
Seat 4 Shana Tate Hammond, Ardmore (Incumbent) – no challenger

Tishomingo District
Seat 1 D. Scott Colbert, Sulphur (Incumbent)
Seat 1 Scott Wood, Tishomingo

Supreme Court:
