Three-time Grammy winner Bill Miller (Mohican Tribe, USA), is part of the eclectic mix of musical talent from around the world featured on 89.5 KCNP-FM this weekend.
Miller has won six Native American Music Awards, including a 2007 Lifetime Achievement honor. His most recent Grammy winning album, Spirit Wind North, was named Best Native American Album at the 2010 ceremony.
Chickasaw Community Radio, 89.5 KCNP-FM, will be the only station in Oklahoma to air the music festival, "Globalquerque" 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 24-25.
"Globalquerque" is an annual celebration of global music and culture conducted in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The festival features artists from around the world. This year's lineup features The Flatlanders with Tom Russell from Texas. Russell's songs have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Joe Ely, Iris Dement, Ian Tyson, k.d. lang and many others.
Other featured artists include Susana Baca (Peru), Emeline Michel (Haiti), Cellicion Zuni Dancers (Zuni, USA), Los Martinez (NM, USA), Mariachi Mystery Tour (NM, USA) and internationally acclaimed Brazilian group Olodum to name a few.
KCNP is wholly owned and operated by the Chickasaw Nation. The station broadcasts on air and online and provides the latest in information on tribal, local and national news, cultural programs and a diverse mix of music and talk shows.
