Chickasaw Nation Election Secretary Rita Loder announced the candidates seeking four legislative seats and one judicial seat within the Chickasaw Nation. The filing period closed Wednesday, June 5, 2012 at 4:30 p.m.
Pontotoc District Seat 5 incumbent Mary Jo Green of Ada will face challengers Mark Allen Johnson and Linda Greenwood, both of Ada.
Pickens District Seat 3 incumbent Linda Briggs of Marietta will face challenger Michael Watson of Lone Grove.
Incumbent legislator Timothy K. Colbert of Sulphur did not receive a challenger and will retain Tishomingo District Seat 2.
Beth Alexander of Achille was also unchallenged and will retain Panola District Seat 1.
Incumbent Supreme Court Justice Mark H. Colbert of Ardmore will also retain his seat on the court as no other candidates filed for Seat 1 on the court.
Registered Chickasaw voters will vote by mail ballots, with ballots being mailed to registered Chickasaw voters July 15, 2013.
Ballots must be returned to the Chickasaw Nation Election Commission no later than 10:30 a.m. on July 30, 2013. No hand delivered ballots will be accepted.
The Chickasaw Nation Election Commission shall conduct and supervise the ballot counting beginning at 11 a.m. July 30, 2013, at the Chickasaw Community Center in Ada. Results of the elections shall be announced the same day.
