Pearl Documentary Airs Feb. 23 on OETA

Television viewers all across Oklahoma and surrounding states will have the opportunity to watch "Pearl Carter Scott: On Top of the World" documentary at 7:30 p.m. CST, Thursday, February 23 on Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA).
Designed to complement the award winning film “Pearl", “On Top of the World," shares the life story of aviatrix Pearl Carter Scott’s, focusing on more than her flying career.
"Pearl is a legendary figure in the history of Oklahoma, the world of aviation and in the Chickasaw Nation," said Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby. "She was a dynamic, determined and caring individual who exemplifies many of the finest qualities of Chickasaw people. She was a unique individual who had a profoundly positive impact on everyone she met."
“Pearl contributed significantly to our tribe during its political and cultural resurgence. Bringing her life story to millions of OETA viewers will help preserve that impact for generations to come."
The documentary features interview with Pearl and her family members.
OETA will also air the movie “Pearl", at 11 p.m., Friday, June 17 on “The OETA Movie Club."
The family-friendly film focuses on the exceptional teen years of the late Eula “Pearl" Carter Scott, a Chickasaw who earned her pilot’s license at the tender age of 13 in 1928. By 14, she is flying her father to business appointments and wowing air show audiences with her aerobatic maneuvers all over Oklahoma.
The Dove Foundation awarded “Pearl" four “Doves," endorsing the film as family-approved for all ages.
The movie was filmed at various locations in Oklahoma, including the historic Harn Homestead, the El Reno Municipal Airport, the Jude and Jody Airport and several locations in and around Guthrie.
With OETA's statewide network of four transmitting stations and 15 translator stations, more than 1.8 million viewers tune into OETA on a weekly basis.
