Holly Easterling will serve as chairman of the Chickasaw Tribal Legislature for Fiscal Year 2010.

Mrs. Easterling was elected chairman by the 13-member Legislature during its September session. The tribe’s fiscal year began Oct. 1.

Mrs. Easterling was re-elected to her Pontotoc District legislative seat in July. She is now in her third term as a tribal representative.

She is the immediate past chairman of the legislature’s finance committee. As finance chairman, Mrs. Easterling oversees approval of the tribe’s annual operating budget and tribal development projects, including the tribe’s 370,000 square-foot medical center. The health care facility, set for 2010 completion, is located in Ada.

“It is a great honor to be elected to this position by my peers on the Legislature,” Mrs. Easterling said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to be of service to the Legislative Branch and, more importantly, to the citizens of the Chickasaw Nation whom I represent.”

Mrs. Easterling is the great-granddaughter of Palmer Simeon Mosely, who served as 20th and 23rd governor of the Chickasaw Nation. Gov. Mosely was elected to the Chickasaw Hall of Fame in 2000.

Mrs. Easterling served as controller of the tribe’s business division from 1996 to 2003. She is a certified public accountant and a graduate of Oklahoma State University.
