The Chickasaw Nation Council House Museum will be hosting Christmas at the Museum 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 in Tishomingo.
"We wanted to take some time out to celebrate the season and let people know that we're here," said Ann Fink, museum curator.
The event will be open-house style, complete with holiday decorations and refreshments.
Fink said that events like Christmas at the Museum are always good opportunities to hear new stories from Chickasaw citizens.
"People pass through and many have a story to tell," she said. "It's a great resource for us to learn something that we might not have known before."
Located at 209 Fisher Street, the museum holds one of the largest collections of Chickasaw art, artifacts and archive materials. It was constructed around the original Chickasaw council house where many early tribal meetings were conducted.
Christmas at the Museum is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the museum at (580) 371-3351.
