Chickasaw Nation Announces Candidates for General Election

Chickasaw Nation Election Secretary Rita Loder announced today the candidates seeking four legislative seats and one judicial seat within the Chickasaw Nation.
 
The filing period closed Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 4:30 p.m.

Pontotoc District Seat 5 incumbent Mary Jo Green of Ada will face challengers Todd Griffith of Newcastle and Mark Johnson of Ada. 

Pickens District Seat 3 incumbent Linda Briggs of Marietta will face challengers Mike Watson of Ardmore and Daniel Worcester of Ardmore.

Panola District incumbent Beth Alexander of Achille will face Beryl F. Sears of Hendrix and Ellen Flowers of Calera.

Tishomingo District Seat 2 incumbent legislator Timothy K. Colbert of Sulphur will retain his legislative seat.

Incumbent Supreme Court Justice Mark Holmes Colbert of Ardmore will face Jeremy Oliver of Wynnewood for Seat 1 on the court.

Registered Chickasaw voters will vote by absentee ballots. Ballots will be mailed to qualified voters July 12, 2010.

Ballots must be returned to the Chickasaw Nation Election Commission no later than 10:30 a.m. on July 27, 2010.  No hand delivered ballots will be accepted.

The Chickasaw Nation Election Commission shall conduct and supervise the ballot counting beginning at 11 a.m. July 27, 2010, at the Chickasaw Community Center in Ada. Results of the elections shall be announced the same day.

*Joyce Wesley and Jerry Imotichey were both ruled ineligible as candidates because they are currently employed by the Chickasaw Nation.
