The Morris K. Udall Foundation Native American Congressional Internship deadline is approaching soon. The deadline to apply is January 29, 2010.
The Native American Congressional Internship is an intensive internship opportunity in Washington, D.C, where interns work full-time in a congressional office to gain first-hand knowledge of governmental processes, legislative processes, congressional matters and governmental proceedings. The internship is a 10-week summer program and 12 candidates are selected to participate.
To be eligible, students must be an enrolled member of a recognized tribe and a college or university junior or senior, graduate, law student or tribal college graduate. Students must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average with an interest in tribal government and policy. Students must complete an internship application form, five short answers and an 800-word essay. Submission of college transcripts, two professional résumés and three independent evaluations with recommendation letters is also required. Deadline to apply is January 29, 2010.
Selected participants will receive airfare to and from Washington, D.C., dormitory lodging at a local university and a daily allowance for meals, transportation and incidentals. Upon internship completion students will receive a $1,200 stipend.
