ADA, Okla., - David Woerz, Ardmore, was re-elected chairman of the Chickasaw Tribal Legislature for Fiscal Year 2012.
Mr. Woerz was elected by acclamation by the 13-member tribal legislature during its October 21 session.
The tribe’s fiscal year began Oct. 1, 2011.
"Mr. Woerz has demonstrated a strong commitment to the Chickasaw people," said Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby. "While our government departments have different functions, it is essential that we work together to serve the Chickasaw people. We look forward to continuing our productive working relationship."
Mr. Woerz was elected to a Pickens District legislative seat in 2006. He is currently serving his second term as a tribal representative.
"I am very blessed to represent the Chickasaw people as the both the Pickens District representative and as Chairman of the Chickasaw Legislature," Woerz said.
"It is a great honor to be elected to this position by my peers. I will continue to work hard to make sure the legislators are well informed and equipped to make sound decisions."
Prior to being named chairman, Woerz served as chairman of the legislature’s land development committee, overseeing the approval of property acquisitions and development projects for the Chickasaw Nation.
Mr. Woerz is active in his community serving on the Board of Directors of Mercy Memorial Hospital and as Trustee for the Ardmore Tourism Authority.
