The Chickasaw Nation Boys & Girls Club of Sulphur is seeking to expand its Native American Mentoring Program, which currently has 15 volunteers who mentor 15 students.

“Besides offering friendship and a listening ear, Mentors and Mentees engage in a variety of fun and meaningful activities together and in groups,” said Stormy Busby, local Mentor Program coordinator.

Volunteer Mentors who are matched with a youth Mentee meet at the Boys & Girls Club site for at least four hours per month for one year.
A Mentor Program coordinator oversees the initiative.

Staff members recently participated in national training at Santa Ana Pueblo, N.M., designed to enhance and strengthen the Club’s Mentoring Program.

The Chickasaw Nation Boys & Girls Club of Sulphur is part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and offers programs in character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, arts, sports, fitness and recreation.
