The Chickasaw Nation has integrated employment, training, and related services through Public Law 102-477 to serve the Indian population in south central Oklahoma.
The area offices of the program operations division use a single intake, assessment and development of an individual employability plan (EDP). Each adult or youth served must meet the requirement of being an enrolled citizen of the Chickasaw Nation or a member of another federally recognized tribe.
The goals are to:
- increase the employability of Native American people within the Chickasaw Nation's service are
- provide special services to enable Native American families to become productive in the workforce
The main components of these services are youth leadership services, educational/vocational classroom training services, occupational/employment services and general assistance, child care and other supportive services.
Supportive Services
Job readiness, work experience, on-the-job training and supportive services are provided for clients who are eligible. This component goal is to empower clients to obtain employment with career potential.
