About
The general assistance program is intended to meet certain unmet essential needs of otherwise eligible Native Americans. Unmet essential needs are determined by reviewing applicants and their situations, including a determination of the size of the household, income or resources available and the applicable state public assistance requirements for meeting financial need.
Application for assistance is made to the Chickasaw Nation area offices. A resource specialist will assist the client in making an application for assistance. Under all circumstances, the client's right to privacy will be a prime consideration in the application process.
Payments are intended to meet the cost of basic needs items and special needs items as defined by the bureau standard of assistance for the state in which the applicant or recipient resides.
It is the overall policy of the Chickasaw Nation that determination of eligibility, delivery of service and rights of appeal, all as pertain to general assistance, are uniformly administered throughout the Chickasaw Nation. Action on an application for general assistance shall be approved if the applicant meets the appropriate eligibility criteria.
Contact your local area office for more information.
