Housing Improvement Program (HIP)
The HIP program is administered pursuant to a contract with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and funds are transferred to the Chickasaw Nation Division of Housing as part of the Chickasaw Nation's self-governance compact. HIP is available to all Native Americans within the program service area, and eligibility is determined according to a formula set by the BIA. Chickasaw Housing Improvement Program (CHIP) Major
The former comprehensive grant program continues as CHIP Major. CHIP Major provides rehabilitation to older Mutual Help homes over and above what maintenance is required of tenants in accordance with the Chickasaw Nation Division of Housing policies and homebuyer's agreements.
