In anticipation of opening the District Court in Ada, the Judicial Department moved the Supreme Court offices and District Court offices to Ada in November 2003. The historic signing of the Agreement on December 17, 2003, and the acquisition of the CFR Court building in Ada, Oklahoma, by the Judicial Department, lay the foundation for the opening of the District Court on January 2, 2004. The Judicial Department anticipates the District Court will be leasing the current space for at least two years. The Executive, Legislative and Judicial Branches of the Chickasaw Nation have plans to build a Judicial Center in Ada within the next few years. It is hoped that the Judicial Center will house the Courts, the Judicial Department, the Legal Division, Law Enforcement, Prosecution and Public Defense.
