Description
The Office of Strong Family Development, through its Family Services, Residential Services and Drug Court Support Services, is currently offering programs designed to strengthen Native American families.
Missions Statement: To strengthen families in the Chickasaw Nation.
Family Services
Family Services is designed to facilitate the formulation of new skills for addressing family related issues within the tribe. Our goal is to strengthen the family unit and decrease the incidence of divorce, infidelity, violence and other related issues that undermine our family structure. Family Services utilizes a group approach to skill building, which allows for maximum utilization of available resources and incorporates the wisdom and support of its members into the skill building process. Group facilitators adhere to our Native American culture, making the dignity and privacy of each participant and their family, of utmost importance. Family Services offers groups addressing:
- Fatherhood
- Single parent support
- Prevention Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP) training
Additional services available through Family Services are:
- Family and marital therapy
- Divorce recovery group
Family and marital counseling is offered at the Youth and Family Services Building in Ada, the Purcell Area Office, and Oklahoma City.
Abstinence Education and Training
Abstinence is the only 100% effective method of birth control and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. Abstinence education is offered through area schools as well as through numerous youth development groups. Parents are provided with a curriculum designed to assist their efforts at promoting abstinence among their teens.

Residential Services
The Chickasaw Children’s Village, a residential facility for Native American students, is located near beautiful Lake Texoma . Students attend Kingston Public Schools while living on a campus consisting of ten family-style cottages. Their participation in extracurricular activities is encouraged and supported by staff. Students live with a married couple that serves as house parents throughout the academic year. Only eight students are assigned to each set of house parents allowing for the individualized attention conducive to success. The Chickasaw Children’s Village promotes academic achievement while developing students’ character. Staff provides students with the skills necessary for successful family function throughout their lifespan.
Students must be school aged children eligible for placement in the 1st through 12th grade and must possess a C.D.I.B. card, birth certificate, former school transcript and current immunization record to apply.
