Recent statistics show that 2,500 First American children are in state department of human services custody and 350 are in the custody of a tribal court. There are 25 Chickasaw Nation foster homes, and the program is ready to recruit more. There is a tremendous need for foster care parents for First American children in the state and within our own community.
During a challenging and scary time, a good foster parent is someone who wants to be a positive part of the child's life and understands the goal is to be available for them physically and emotionally.
Each foster parent will be assigned a foster care worker who will help them through the process.
Applications for fostering opportunities can be submitted online at Chickasaw.net/Foster. For questions, call (580) 272-5550.
