ARDMORE, Okla. -- The Chickasaw Nation will host a beaded bracelet class 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, at the Ardmore Chickasaw Community Center, 907 Locust St. The class is open to the public at no charge.

Instructor Regina Berna will guide attendees in crafting adornments using colorful glass beads. The group will cover basic concepts and techniques. They will also dig into the history of beadwork in the Chickasaw culture.

The Chickasaw Nation has planned monthly community arts and crafts classes for locations across south central and central Oklahoma all year. Class topics include the Chickasaw language, finger weaving, stomp dancing, beading and painting.

A beaded earrings class will be offered August in Duncan. Upcoming classes are also planned for Purcell, Oklahoma City and Pauls Valley.
