The Chickasaw Nation will host a document shredding event, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, April 21, at the Chickasaw Nation ReUse Center, 2205 North Broadway in Ada.

A shredding truck will be on-site to immediately shred personal and business documents.

Acceptable items for shredding include: manila folders and files, paper and envelopes, sticky notes, note pads, surveys, blueprints, financial records, junk mail or any other paper document.

The Chickasaw Nation ReUse center is an environmentally conscious facility that helps keep reusable items out of landfills and makes a difference in the community.

In hopes of reducing landfills and aiding in pollution prevention, the Chickasaw Nation ReUse Center accepts new and gently used items for reuse. The items are then offered to others in the community to utilize at no charge. It serves as a means for citizens to obtain items they may need to maintain their homes.

Since opening in 2010, the ReUse Center has taken in over one million pounds of reusable material, such as furniture, appliances, electronics, clothing, household and kitchen items, paint, cleaning products and building materials.

The Chickasaw Nation ReUse Center is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and items can be dropped off or picked-up at no charge.

The shredding event is open to the public and businesses at no charge.
