AmeriCorps Program

The AmeriCorps Program is funded by a federal grant and created by the Corporation for National and Community Service. AmeriCorps was established in the Chickasaw Nation in 2018.

Chickasaw Nation AmeriCorps members provide lifesaving disaster preparedness trainings to citizens, elders, veterans and families within the Chickasaw Nation boundaries. Members also staff informational booths at local events.

The program has full-time and part-time service positions available. Members must be able to work 17 to 40 hours per week and willing to serve in the focus area of disaster relief services. Positions are available in emergency management and child care, working with children, ages one to 12.

You Provide

  • Completed Application
  • One form of ID; driver’s license or tribal citizenship card
  • CDIB/citizenship card (if applicable)
  • Social Security card
  • Permanent resident alien card (if applicable)

Eligibility

  • Age 17 or older
  • High school diploma, GED or HSE or in the process of receiving a GED, HSE or high school diploma
  • Must submit to and clear background check from U.S. Department of Justice National Sex Offender Public Website Registry, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation criminal history check and FBI fingerprint criminal history check
  • Must be a citizen of the United States or legal permanent resident alien

Other Information

AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs, consisting of three primary programs each taking a different approach to improving lives and fostering civic engagement. Members commit their time to address critical community needs including increasing academic achievement, mentoring youth, fighting poverty, sustaining national parks, preparing for disasters and more.
