Chickasaw Clemente Humanities Course

The Chickasaw Clemente I course “Chikashsha Imanapah” offers the opportunity to explore the rich and diverse culture, history, government, language and experience of the Chickasaws in contrast to Western culture. Clemente II is similar in focus but compares and contrasts Chickasaw history and culture with various other North American tribes. Chickasaw Clemente courses are offered at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, and Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma, with three hours of college credit awarded upon successful completion of each semester’s course.  Clemente courses have also been offered through Murray State College, Tishomingo, Oklahoma as six-week seminars and were offered as one-day tribal training workshops throughout the Chickasaw Nation.

Students are required to enroll at the college or university offering the course and must be a high-school graduate or have earned a GED.  Seminars and workshop dates and locations will be announced throughout the year.
