Prevention Services

Prevention services works to improve the overall health and quality of life for Chickasaw citizens, families and communities by promoting emotional well-being and preventing mental illness and substance use.

We provide the following services:

  • Education is provided to all Chickasaw Nation employees, departments, citizens, and non-tribal agencies upon request.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) - interactive two-day training
  • Suicide Talk - two-hour suicide prevention training for large groups
  • Safe Talk - half-day suicide prevention training for groups of up to 30 people
  • Depression
  • Stress management
  • Child abuse awareness and prevention
  • Substance abuse and methamphetamine prevention and education
  • Tobacco prevention and cessation
  • Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder
  • Shaken baby syndrome
  • Health literacy

Other Information:

Healthy Education for Life Program (HELP) is a suicide awareness program for students in grades eight through 12 that educate youth about the warning signs of depression and suicide, based on a three-step intervention model of Ask, Listen and Tell.

Tobacco cessation counseling and classes are wellness-focused and available to employees, employee spouses and all tribal citizens.
