Chickasaw Nation Veterans Services is hosting an event in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to discuss the PACT Act from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday, Aug. 18, at the Chickasaw Nation Community Center, 907 Locust St., Ardmore, Oklahoma.
The PACT Act is a law expanding VA health care and benefits care for veterans of the Vietnam era, Gulf War era and post-9/11 era who were exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange and other toxic substances. The full name of the law is the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act. This law helps provide generations of veterans and their survivors with the care and benefits they have earned and deserve, according to VA.gov.
The event is open to the public and will feature resources available through the VA and the Chickasaw Nation. Veteran service officers will be on-hand to help file claims, enroll in VA health care or schedule appointments for Veterans Health Administration toxic screenings. The Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Benefits Administration and VA Health Care Administration will also be in attendance.
