TISHOMINGO, Okla. — Chickasaw Nation Governor Chris Anoatubby led a groundbreaking ceremony July 23 for the Chickasaw Nation Tishomingo Youth Club.
The new Chickasaw Nation Tishomingo Youth Club, 807 E. 5th St., will accommodate the youth club’s ever-increasing participation and provide a dedicated space where youth can experience new opportunities in a safe and supportive environment after school and during school breaks.
For more than two and a half decades, Chickasaw Youth Clubs have offered opportunities for social, cultural, physical and academic growth through fun and engaging activities.
“At the Chickasaw Nation, we have always believed that our greatest strength is our people,” Governor Anoatubby said. “And that belief guides every investment we make, in education, healthcare, housing, economic development, language and culture, and especially our children. When we invest in our youth, we are investing in the future of the Chickasaw Nation.”
Located near the Chickasaw Nation Child Development Center, Chickasaw Nation Head Start and other Chickasaw Nation facilities, the Chickasaw Nation Tishomingo Youth Club will provide young people a place to develop to their full potential.
“It will be more much than just a new facility. It will be a community of support that provides a strong foundation from which to grow and thrive,” he said. “And Chickasaw youth clubs offer opportunities for social, cultural, physical and academic growth.
“They will learn a lot about Chickasaw history, culture, health and nutrition, and much, much more.”
The new 18,000-square-foot Chickasaw Nation Tishomingo Youth Club will feature four classrooms, teacher work rooms, offices and a commercial kitchen. Two outdoor playgrounds and an indoor playroom are also included in the design.
The youth club is part of a wider network of facilities designed to serve Chickasaws.
“We are excited to add this new Chickasaw Youth Club as another source of support for our next generation.
“Together, we will continue to build a brighter future for the Chickasaw Nation and our communities,” Governor Anoatubby said.
Located in Tishomingo, Ardmore and Sulphur, Oklahoma, Chickasaw Nation Youth Clubs’ mission is to promote and enhance the character development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and power through life-enhancing programs.
