In this time of an unprecedented health crisis, we are continuing to monitor the spread and effects of the coronavirus. The health and safety of Chickasaws, employees and our community is always our top priority. As this virus has spread to communities across Oklahoma, we are working diligently to make our facilities safe for all. The best way to limit exposure and contain the spread of COVID-19 is to avoid situations where people are gathered and for all to remain safe at home.
To continue to protect our youth, families and staff, all 2020 Chickasaw Nation camps, clinics and academies have been canceled.
Our executive department is continuously monitoring this unprecedented situation. Programs and services will be modified also as needed to safely serve our citizens. Visit Chickasaw.net/COVID19 for the most current information regarding closings, cancellations and program changes.
Camp Survivor is a wellness camp that incorporates activities promoting physical, mental, cultural and spiritual health. Throughout the week, campers participate in numerous activities, including swimming, hiking, fishing, archery, canoeing, rock climbing, stickball and nutrition education. Campers also compete in mental and physical challenges and attend daily “tribal councils,” where individuals and groups receive special recognition. This is an overnight camp.
Transportation is not provided.
While attending the camp, students are educated on proper nutrition, ways to exercise and various other tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Camp Survivor will take place at the YMCA owned Camp Classen, near Davis, Oklahoma.
