The Chickasaw Historical Society was established by tribal law April 15, 1994. Since that time, the society and its members have worked toward their mission statement of promoting, preserving and protecting Chickasaw culture and family traditions.

The Chickasaw Historical Society works to:
- Research and document historical information
- Profile achievements of citizens
- Promote tribal arts
- Educate in the Chickasaw language
- Encourage archival and museum donations

This biannual (twice yearly) journal has featured more than 150 articles covering subjects from prehistory to modern-day events.
Chickasaw Historical Society Conference
The Chickasaw Historical Society (CHS) cordially invites you to our ninth annual conference, “Ittafama Ithana,” June 23-24. Our theme for the conference is “Sharing Our Chickasaw Treasures.”
This year’s gathering will be offered in person and virtually. An opening reception will be Monday, June 23 from 5-7 p.m. and the CHS conference will be Tuesday, June 24 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Conference registration will begin at 8 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, in the lobby of the West Bay Casino and Resort. Registration for the conference is free for Chickasaw Historical Society members and $35 for non-members or renewing members, which includes a one-year membership to the Chickasaw Historical Society.
