Tanumpo Hosa Apisa Camp

This camp features instruction on gun safety and marksmanship techniques for a maximum of 50 students. Tanumpo Hosa Apisa (pronounced tah-noom-poh hohn-sah ah-pe-sah, meaning gun shoot straight) is designed to encourage participation in a long-term training program for young men and women wishing to excel in Olympic-style rifle and pistol shooting.

Led by Lighthorse Police officers and certified instructors, this unique camp provides students with lessons in gun safety and responsibility, while also learning proper shooting techniques. Following training, campers will compete with rifles and pistols to achieve a combined overall score based on shooting accuracy.

The camp will focus on the disciplines required for Olympic-style target shooting and consist of both classroom instruction and firing practice. The pistols and rifles used for this camp are CO2 powered pellet guns. Instruction will be provided by certified instructors, Lighthorse Police officers and local coaches trained by USA (the national governing body for Olympic shooting sports). Transportation will be provided from Tishomingo, Ardmore, Davis, Ada and Purcell.
