Out of an abundance of caution and to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus, or COVID-19, certain Chickasaw Nation events, classes, facilities, etc., will be postponed, canceled or closed. This language program is dedicated to creating new Chickasaw language teachers through structured immersion approaches. CAAIP is an adult Chickasaw language immersion program for novice learners who are paired with master-level fluent Chickasaw speakers and proficient second language speakers of Chickasaw.
CAAIP participants take part in a Chickasaw language immersion environment Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and receive compensation for up to 40 hours per week. The number of applicants selected is based on program availability.
The program is a full-time, three-year commitment. Upon completion, participants are expected to be, at minimum, conversational in Chickasaw in the intermediate mid category, as defined by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages' standards.
