Being a parent or caregiver in today’s world means being able to create an environment to help children thrive. Part of creating a safe and secure environment is understanding what impacts and molds a child as they grow.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are recognized as one of the biggest unaddressed issues in children’s lives today. The NEAR Science Training explores how to build resilience in children.

The NEAR (neurobiology, epigenetics, ACEs and resilience) training explores how life experiences impact our biological nervous system. It takes a closer look into the data revealed by the ACEs study and teaches best practices to foster positive growth.

The Chickasaw Nation's Hofanti Chokma “to grow well" program offers online workshops, at no cost, teaching the NEAR Science Training.
Workshops are available via Zoom on the following dates:

  • April 30, from 10 a.m.-noon

This training shows evidence-based methods that can restore, repair and reverse the negative impacts of trauma, teaching ways we can decrease the risk of ACEs while supporting our children. Strategies can be used with all people to create emotionally safe environments, healthy attachments and strengthened skills so individuals, families and communities can meet their full potential and thrive.
