The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends the flu shot for everyone ages 6 months and older, including women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is especially important for adults ages 65 and older and people with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Young children and people with disabilities are also at risk for having serious complications from the flu.
The Chickasaw Nation offers no-cost community vaccine events throughout flu season. The next community event will be:
- Nov. 17 at the Irving Community Center from 4-6 p.m.
For more information about community vaccination events, call the public health nursing team at (580) 272-1327.
