Burial Assistance

Chickasaw Nation Residents, Chickasaws At‑large

The burial assistance grant pays up to $2,500 toward the final balance of burial expenses for eligible First Americans. Payment is made directly to the funeral home.

Applicants must be a member of a federally recognized tribe. A family member of the deceased must apply within six months of date of death.

Eligibility

Notification of death must be received by the Chickasaw Nation Social Services Division within six months following the death.

  • Statement of itemized expenses from funeral home
  • Death certificate
  • Proof of residency
  • Social Security card
  • Verification of income, if needed
