Car Seat Safety Program

COVID-19 UPDATES

Out of an abundance of caution and to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus, or COVID-19, certain Chickasaw Nation events, classes, facilities, etc., will be postponed, canceled or closed. For a complete list of postponements, cancellations or closures, visit the COVID-19 INFORMATION page. We will continue to update the list as the situation progresses.

This program provides free inspections of child car seats and parent education regarding proper fit, laws and regulations and vehicle safety.

Certified passenger safety technicians perform the car seat checks by appointment and at scheduled community events. During these checks, the technician ensures the child safety seat is properly installed in the vehicle, the seat correctly fits the child and the seat is in good condition. Common installation mistakes include loose belts, incorrect shoulder strap position and using incorrect belt paths.

Chickasaw Nation Department of Education staff members have completed training and earned certifications specific to Oklahoma state vehicle safety laws.

Car seats are available for Chickasaw citizens who have recalled, outdated or wrong-sized seats.
