Lowak Shoppalá

“Lowak Shoppalá” is an exciting theatrical work with music by Chickasaw composer Jerod Impichchaachaahá Tate, words by Chickasaw author and Pulitzer finalist Linda Hogan and set and costume design by Chickasaw fiber artist and weaver Margaret Roach Wheeler.  This combination of music, dance and storytelling, enhanced by costuming based on authentic historical Chickasaw and Southeastern designs was premiered in 2009 in Ada, Oklahoma in East Central University’s Ataloa Theatre at the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

A special performance of “Lowak Shoppalá” will be presented November 21, 22 and 23, 2013, in collaboration with the Goddard Fine Arts Center in Ardmore, Oklahoma.  An exhibit of original costuming created for the premiere performance by Margaret Roach Wheeler will be held November 1 – 23 in the Goddard Gallery.

Auditions for actors, dancers, singers and technical staff will be announced soon.
